At Meta Reality Labs Research, we aspire to achieve a vision of social presence in VR and AR where people are able to interact with each other across distances in a way that is indistinguishable from in-person interactions. We are looking for exceptional Research Engineers who are excited about fast building and prototyping complex capture systems, as well as processing through large-scale pipelines the captured data. You will act as a bridge between world-class researchers and engineers, collaborating together on the innovation necessary to build the foundations of social presence technology. At our lab, you will be exposed to facilities, algorithms, and data that are years ahead of anything else in existence today. We want people who work well across disciplines, are excited about getting research prototypes to really work, and are excited to work in new technology areas.
BS, MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience in developing software related to the robotics field (sensors, kinematics, computer vision) and integration of hardware components into a complex pipeline.
Demonstrated experience with Python or other scripting languages.
Demonstrated experience in C++.
Demonstrated experience managing and operating computers in Linux environments.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Prototype and develop quickly complex multimodal capture systems for cutting-edge technology related avatars, 3D audio and 3D environments.
Process large-scale data, including the registration, calibration and registration of multimodal data and vision-based tracking algorithms.
Operate and build complex data pipelines at scale such that data can be moved effectively across data centers.
Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across both machine and human perception teams at Meta to develop experiments, prototypes, and concepts that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems.
Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments and prototype systems related to large-scale long-duration sensing and machine reasoning.
Experience in data compression and data management systems at scale.
Experience developing software for robotics applications.
Experience in vision-based tracking algorithms and complex multimodal sensor synchronization and geometric calibration.
Experience with real world system building and data collection, including design, coding (C++/Python) and evaluation (C++/Python).
