At Meta Reality Labs, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for an Optical Scientist with passion for technology and leadership to join our team, whose mission is to deliver beyond state-of-the-art Waveguide Technologies for consumer near to eye displays at our research and development facilities.
We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience leading novel optical device nanofabrication projects in a clean room environment. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of internal and external research scientists, and process engineers to develop future generation augmented reality display. You will be empowered to explore future technology roadmap and translate that into prototyping. More specifically you will lead the research and development of component integration strategies to enable delivery of next generation optical concepts and prototypes targeting display systems leveraging nanostructured optics and active optical technologies. You will receive full support from the management and leadership team to grow your technical and leadership skills.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
Experience working, collaborating, and communicating in a cross-functional and cross-culture team.
PhD in Engineering, Optical Science, Physics, or a similar field.
3+ years of experience in diffractive optics or photonics including component simulation, integration, fabrication and testing.
3+ years of experience with fabrication of advanced optical devices using interferometric, holographic, nano-imprint or other nano-fabrication techniques and associated materials.
Description（岗位职责）
Lead the fabrication of new optical components and systems.
Troubleshooting and process optimization of the currently existing fabrication technologies.
Generate new processes and technologies to close the gap between design and fabrication.
Generate and test new optical concepts with applications in augmented reality display and optics technology.
Collaboratively work with the broader research and development community to advance new technology elements.
Partner with the productization team to scale the technology as part of the New Technology Introduction (NTI) process.
Support prototyping for next-generation optics and displays and time machines.
Engage cross-functionally with other researchers and engineers to develop and trouble-shoot concepts that advance the entire product pipeline (including hardware, software, integration, infrastructure, and applications teams).
Mentor and develop projects for graduate-level research interns.
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
3+ years of experience with light sources (lasers and LED’s), diffractive optics, optical materials or geometric optics for either design or characterization or fabrication purposes.
3+ years of experience in novel optical device fabrication including AR display, diffractive waveguides, silicon-photonics, metastructures, etc.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications, grants, fellowships, patents or other professional societies.
