Summary（岗位介绍）
As a Laser Safety and Compliance Engineer in FRL, you will be responsible for developing and executing our Product Safety and Hazard plans across HW products. This role will aid in the assessment of product safety issues through analysis, traceability and apply lessons learned early in the development of procedures. This role will identify safety issues that are above and beyond the requirements in published UL and IEC standards. This role will interface with many design teams and provide input on critical safety components in product design. You will interact closely with cross-functional teams such as Hardware Engineering, Product Design, Quality, Reliability and Operations. This role is a key point of contact with hardware and compliance teams to ensure safe design and continued safe operations.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Physics, or Optical Science)
5+ years of work experience in consumer electronics product safety
Experience in safety work associated with laser and LEDs and experience with IEC 60825, IEC 62471 and ANSI Z136.1 compliance
Description（岗位职责）
Contribute to product design reviews by identifying safety hazards, and proposing measures to effectively eliminate or mitigate them
Oversee DFMEA testing to ensure that testing is done to account for all foreseeable hazards, meets all safety compliance requirements and that documentation is complete and accurate
Guide the hardware product development teams on design for safety and ensuring designs meet all applicable internal safety specifications and processes Predict how radiation (primarily from laser and LEDs) emitting components could be used and could be misused, and identifying safety-critical components, systems, and manufacturing steps associated to ensure safety with those predictions
Lead safety analysis, development of protective measures, applying corrective actions, investigations and provide communication to stakeholders
Collaborate on product safety event investigations by partnering with cross-functionals on root-cause analysis and ensuring corrective action plans are implemented in accordance with the product safety event process
Review, approve or modify changes to products, processes, and documentation that could impact product safety
Support all radiation emitting applications and projects as needed
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
Proficiency with FDA/CDRH filing processes and IEC 60825-1
Expertise with federal reporting requirements – import/export, initial and model change reports and annual reporting
Understanding of performing laser calculations (MPE, NOHD, NHZ) for various laser types and configurations
Knowledge of product safety standards for consumer electronics (IEC 60950-1 or 62368-1)
Knowledge of hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies and processes like FMEA and FTA
Experience in safety investigations, either during development process or failure analysis. Experience influencing teams indirectly through timely, accurate, and powerful analysis
