Summary（岗位介绍）

The Portal Hardware team is looking for an experienced Product Design (Mechanical) Engineering Manager to lead a diverse team of engineers to design the next stage of Portal devices.

The ideal candidate will have a background and hands-on experience in mechanical engineering/product design and complex system design. This leader will be in charge of building up a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and defining.

In addition, you will manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and communicate to program stakeholders. Communication and technical aptitude are critical in this role. You will liaison between tech teams, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. You will assist with determining project priorities and feasibility.

As an expert in your engineering field, you will be in charge of supervising the mechanical design and architecture of our custom systems.

This position is a complex and operationally challenging role that will allow the development of technologies that can change the way humans communicate and interact regardless of distance.

This is a full-time position.

Qualifications（岗位要求）

BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree

7+ years of experience in shipping consumer electronics with knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals

2+ years of experience managing teams of mechanical engineers

Creative thinking and experience delivering in a new product category

Experience working closely with contract manufacturers and other suppliers in Asia

Knowledge of state-of-the art mechanical design and simulation tools, prototyping tools, manufacturing technologies and materials

Experience with cameras, displays, batteries, audio, and other sensors

Experience working with UX, ID, manufacturing, reliability, and other cross-functional teams

Proven communication skills to inspire your team and convey technical details to diverse audiences

Description（岗位职责）

Manage mechanical engineers working on Portal Hardware devices

Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees

Understand technical architectures, long-term and short-term planning, hardware roadmapping, and other issues to create comprehensive plans for prioritizing technical and resourcing challenges

Assess employee performance frequently, address under-performance, and recognize and promote performance

Partner with product management, technical program management, manufacturing, operations and other engineering groups to facilitate effective collaboration between teams

Help engineers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, strengths, and work styles

Willingness to travel upwards of 10%, domestic and international, to support builds, meet with suppliers, and work with a multi-site hardware team

Additional Requirements（额外要求）

4+ years of experience managing teams of mechanical engineers

Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter

Experience integrating RF technologies such as Wi-Fi, BT, GPS, etc.

Experience leading and driving mechanical design from concept through design for manufacture, assembly, and test

Experience designing products with complex thermal systems

Direct experience shipping consumer hardware and in R&D
