Oculus Studios is building out a Central Technology Group (CTG) to focus efforts within its First Party Game Studios (Beat Studios, Downpour, BigBox, Sanzaru and Ready at Dawn).
Within CTG, we will help our Studios take advantage of the economies of scale that Meta provides. We are looking for engineers who can work effectively within Meta’s vast infrastructure and are excited by the chance to help Studios make video games.
We will collaborate to build core systems and shared technologies for the Studios. Working with partners across Meta, we will assist in migrating and onboarding our partner studios with common Meta supported solutions.
This is a new (and growing) team. The work will be in collaboration with Studio Game Teams, cross-functional partners (Security, Privacy, TPMs, Legal, etc.) and RL cross-functional teams (VOIP, Identity, Horizon etc.).
5+ years of experience in developing backend services for games and/or enterprise (large scale distributed environments)
Broad knowledge of games and game development and/or enterprise scale infrastructure
Willingness to learn new approaches, coding languages, and Meta specific solutions
Experienced with C/C++ or C
Experienced with Python or PowerShell
Experienced collaborating with team members across multiple disciplines to bring products to life
Help define and establish Meta’s infrastructure approach for game studios – working across multi-year effort
Find common needs by working across the first party game studios to gain buy-in, and build solutions that can be used by all current and future acquired studios
Assist with custom integration solutions that align with the Metaverse (e.g. Avatars, Common Identity)
Be or become familiar with multiple game engines: i.e. Unity, Unreal, proprietary engine
Be or become familiar with multiple 3rd Party Game technologies (i.e. AWS GameLift, Unity Vivox)
Gain familiarity of alternate hosting environments (i.e. cloud/corporate/lab) and help determine where and how they should be used
Help onboard new game studios engineers to Meta infra and internal tools, while bringing empathy for game development back to core Meta teams
Partner with other teams within Meta to figure out best approaches to migrate game studio services while bringing the Meta focuses of reliability, scalability, security to the game studio space
Support game studios during break/fix scenarios and be part of the escalation path
Assist game studios in building, scaling, and optimizing new features for their existing/future titles
Shipped AAA titles or Large enterprise solution
Experience working in major game engines (i.e. Unreal, Unity)
Experience as a Full-Stack developer in a large scale distributed environment
Experience with backend security, privacy, scalability, and persistence storage design paradi
Experience building supportable solutions that include proactive alerting, monitoring, and product metrics
Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Experience working with distributed computing platforms
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
