We are looking for an innovative Computer Vision Research Scientist to perform research and development in the area of Computer Vision, with a specific emphasis on exploring, prototyping, and evaluating state-of-the-art depth sensing algorithms and architectures, delivering the best-in-class performance in small form factors and ultra-low power systems. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding in depth estimation and depth fusion/3D reconstruction fundamentals, and push the frontiers of algorithms development leveraging Meta’s innovative hardware.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields. Exceptions can be made to candidates with proven industry experience in these areas.
5+ years of experience working on computer vision problems (industry or post-graduate academic research).
Knowledge in image processing, 3D geometry, numerical optimization, and machine learning.
Experience developing software and algorithms in C++ and Python.
Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Own research and fast prototyping of state-of-the-art algorithms in the areas of image correspondence, surface reconstruction, 3D geometry, and image processing.
Drive innovative research in computer vision and applied machine learning that fundamentally shift the direction of our roadmap, and that of our industry partners.
Collaborate with cross-functional software and hardware teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.
Deliver research results that have direct impacts to Meta products, including driving the technology roadmap and software and hardware configuration.
Experience in performance and optimization of CV/ML or image processing software modules, particularly in the context of AR, VR, and/or MR.
Experience transferring technology from research in computer vision, machine perception or machine learning into a shipping product.
Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
Experience with stereo, structured light, and/or time-of-flight depth sensors.
Experience communicating complex research and development in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated by first-authored publications, workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, ICCP or similar, or winning open competitions such as Kaggle.
