Ready At Dawn is looking for a Lead Character Artist to join us in creating high profile original titles in VR, ranging from social and competitive multiplayer to character driven action and adventure single-player games.

In this role, you will be guiding an initial team of 1-2 talented Character Artists in developing the artistic vision of our games, as well as closely collaborating with many other diverse groups throughout the design and art departments to see it to fruition. You would be involved in growing this team over time to support the large-scale ambitions of the project as it moves out of a pre-production stage and into full production. Along with a personal passion and skill for character creation, you would help maintain the asset pipeline, ensuring stylistic consistency, and exploring new techniques and methods to push character quality, all while balancing engine performance.

In this leadership role, you serve as an advocate for the Character Art team, guiding other artists through both mentorship and critique, and helping to continue to advance the studio’s capabilities and process for character development.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Industry experience as a Character Artist in a leadership role.

Experience using a real-time authoring toolset such as Unreal or Unity, as well as Maya and ZBrush for content creation.

A portfolio that demonstrates a breadth of both technical and artistic execution of Character Art.

Communication skills and knowledge to both effectively give and receive creative and artistic critique.

Description(岗位职责)

Work with the Character Art team, other art disciplines, and game direction to establish visual style and production pipelines/processes for creating character models.

Collaborate with other art and design disciplines to help guide the Character Art team through pre-production visual development tests and ideation, as well as production execution.

Work closely with the Tech Art team to maintain guidelines for model deliveries that allow for effective deformation and expression, as well as optimization.

Work with the production department to prioritize tasking and scheduling of the Character Art team, balancing project goals and scope against time and resources.

Provide feedback and mentorship to other Character Artists on the team, both for executing on a compelling vision for the games we make, as well as helping each to grow and thrive in their professional artistic careers.

Help continue to expand the capabilities of the Character Art team, through training and team building, refinements of process and techniques, and candidate recruiting and hiring.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Experience with mesh optimization and finding creative solutions to retain artistic quality while supporting hardware restrictions.

Experience creating and/or reviewing facial blendshapes.
