Senior Design Manager – Fluent Design Studio for DTS

Are you a UX leader and designer (any discipline) who loves to learn, solve challenges, and dream up breakthrough ideas? You’ve worked on multiple similar projects already, and you’re looking for a new adventure. You’re a tireless advocate for the customer—enthusiastic about building and iterating on designs to discover what works best and applying your knowledge to create incredible enterprise software products. You’re passionate about your interests, and you want to work on projects that will change the world for the better. You understand how to bring a team together to solve difficult product and customer problems, fixing what’s not quite right and smoothing the customer’s journey through the product. You to find ways to reduce the number of screens, remove the extraneous, drive users to the next screen or next step, and shorten the path to “Wow!” You’ll work in a focused team collaborating with fellow design leads, content designers, interaction designers, visual and motion designers, qualitative researchers, data scientists, and producers. Bouncing ideas around, formulating plans, and charting the path forward is your jam as much as any solo design time. You’re fluent at communicating with other design managers, product managers and developers as well as influencing your team and studio to simplify, integrate, and co-create successful customer experiences that work together. And you’re comfortable influencing others around how we all want the same thing, what that thing is, and why you think the team has landed a solution that will help make Digital Transformation Products a suite of business apps that customers will love.

If this matches your profile, we are looking for a Senior Designer Manager for the Fluent Design studio team which is and integral part of Microsoft’s Digital Transformation Studios. The role is to plan, lead, and drive the direction for our design language and design systems for our full portfolio of enterprise products.

Our specific studio team, within the Digital Transformation org and parent studio is responsible for Fluent for Enterprise applications

Qualifications（岗位要求）

Qualifications/Skills

· MA in Interface Design, Visual Communication, HCI, Product Design or equivalent experience.

· 5+ years of work-related experience in user interface, interaction and user experience design required.

· Experience with shipping products

· Experience with design systems and component libraries

· A portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in related fields.

· You have experience in building and shipping beautiful and intuitive applications.

· Demonstrated attention to detail and understanding of typography, color, layout principles and design fundamentals.

· Great listening skills, with an open-minded and team-oriented approach to design.

· Extraordinary communication skills – the ability to make complex ideas understandable, demonstrate passion and leadership, and strong presentation skills.

· Self-motivated and directed.

· A strong interest in design and technology trends, especially in design systems

· Creating interactive prototypes.

Description（岗位职责）

Responsibilities

· Lead designers in maintaining, advancing, and refining Fluent, to address the unique needs of our enterprise applications within the Digital Transformation Platform

· Inform and contribute to the development and advancement of Fluent as the design system for Microsoft.

· Lead design initiatives across the entire design system spectrum – from design fundamentals to ux components, patterns, and end to end experiences.

· Collaborate with and contribute in aligning direction across design sub-disciplines within the team (Content, Research, Visuals, PM)

· Partner and collaborate with product design studios in designing user experience solutions that work across devices with a focus on coherence and experience convergence across the products in our portfolio.

· Partnering with developers, PMs and researchers, on key projects and initiatives, to deliver high quality design systems, design tools and ux components that help product experience in the full lifecycle, from strategy to conception and until launch.

· Collaborate and work in Microsoft wide Fluent core workstreams and initiatives, as well as workstreams where various Fluent dialects are being developed. (Ex: Fluent for Enterprise)

· Plan and host Design Forums and other collaborative initiatives where our design system team embeds with product design teams to solve specific high-value problems.

· Enabling collaborators to do more through thought-leadership in user experiences designed for enterprise and the various business personas within.

· Collaborating with UX Research and Content Design to assure that design decisions and solutions are prioritized, impactful, intuitive and of highest possible quality and ROI.

· Defining and managing the appropriate design approach for creating differentiating cloud solution experiences, through design systems, design component libraries and other ux design best practices.

· Leading the early concept phase by organizing and running idea sessions, creating mood boards, storyboarding, brainstorming, creating user scenarios and developing concept sketches.

· Creating frameworks and models which enable others to understand key concepts and relationships as well as generate valuable input.

· Defining research questions and methods to be used, as well as drawing actionable conclusions from findings, to inform current and future design system and design convergence initiatives

· Effectively communicating and documenting research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design rationales both verbally and visually.
