Join a growing Optical and Mechanical Systems Team as an Optical Design Engineer to help unlock future AR/VR display technologies. As part of the Hardware Research organization at Reality Labs, you will be responsible for leading the generation of new optical system concepts, designing prototype lenses, and characterization of optical performance for research projects. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team composed of some of the best engineers, scientists and leaders defining the field of AR/VR.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of experience in designing optical systems and components.
Experience using optical design software such as Zemax or Code V.
Experience working in a lab environment with optical systems and lasers.
Experience with hands-on assembly, alignment, and testing of optical components and optical systems.
Experience in optical tolerance analysis, including mechanical positional tolerances and defining lens manufacturing tolerances.
Description(岗位职责)
Conceptualize and design new prototype optical systems and components such as: imaging optics, illumination systems, geometric or physical optics, and projector design.
Design custom lenses and optical subsystems with ray tracing software, including lens elements, multi-lens systems, and other optical components.
Establish optical engineering specifications, including key performance metrics, optical manufacturing tolerances, and test requirements for optical subsystems and components.
Specify and design custom metrology and measurement systems.
Plan and perform characterization and system performance testing.
Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners.
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in the field of Optical Engineering, Physics, or related degree.
5+ years of experience leading advanced optics development.
Proficiency with ZEMAX, CODE V, FRED etc.
Experience with design/assembly of small form-factor imaging systems.
Experience designing lenses for diamond turning and molding.
Experience using scripting languages and data analysis tools such MATLAB, and Python.
Experience designing freeform optical surfaces.
Experience designing optical systems incorporating diffractive optical elements and building measurement systems to characterize diffractive optical elements.
Experience collaborating with internal and external vendors for optic fabrication including knowledge of ISO 10110 standard
