Microsoft Mixed Reality is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Product Development and Mechanical Engineering team at our Mountain View, CA campus. The candidate should be a motivated self-starter who will thrive in this fast-paced technical environment.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will create and refine mechanical part designs through full product development cycles, from ideation to mass production. This work involves integrating optical and electronic assemblies with mechanisms and mechanical enclosures to create great augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) experiences. To do this, you will be asked to balance the needs of customers, budget, schedule and product requirements while communicating effectively across partner teams. You will create mechanical drawings, work with overseas manufacturers, and refine your designs through prototype builds and reliability validation.

Qualifications(岗位要求)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with thermal measurement techniques
- Familiarity with mechanical strength or material testing
- Use of LabView and NI DAQ hardware
- Proficiency with hand and power tools

- Cloud Screening: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related technical engineering experience
- OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- Fluency with Matlab or other data analysis software
- Fluency with writing LabView VIs
- Experience with failure analysis and metrology tools
- Experience working in a test lab environment
Mechanical Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.

Description(岗位职责)
- Develops, reviews, and executes on test plans.
- Assists in setting up and breaking down testing environments with guidance from other engineers.
- Follows safety guidelines.
- Assists in the development of basic prototype hardware components for use in development, testing, or validation of new product features under guidance from other engineers.
- Assists in evaluating prototypes for the purpose of innovating, optimizing and maturing designs.
- Analyzes and interprets results of data analyses to identify common problems or flaws that may affect a feature or product design change and brings them to the attention of other engineers or team leads.
- Records test data and conducts basic data/statistical analysis to identify issues with the design.
