Reality Labs Research (RL-R) brings together a diverse and interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to create the future of augmented and virtual reality. The Optics & Display Research team’s goal is to advance the state of the art in AR/VR optical quality, including field of view, resolution, and comfort. As a software engineering leader in O&DR, you’ll architect the software systems for an advanced research development kit that will power future AR/VR experiments, allowing both internal and external teams to explore the tradespace of optical systems and display engines. You’ll partner with expert research scientists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and a team of brilliant software minds to ensure seamless integration across hardware, firmware and software components.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

10+ years experience architecting complex systems that involve both hardware and software components

10+ years C/C++ experience, including C++11 (and up) features and principles

8+ years experience designing, creating, and extending software development kits distributed to other developer customers

8+ years experience creating, extending, integrating and maintaining real-time 3D engine systems such as graphics rendering, audio, physics, networking, animation, autonomous vehicles, medical systems, real-time embedded systems or robotics systems

Description(岗位职责)

Evaluate, design, develop, and integrate real-time software for advanced AR/VR display research development kits

Collaborate in a diverse team environment with hardware, software, and firmware engineers to support low-level systems such as displays, optics, and tracking. Help make informed architectural tradeoffs and rapidly deliver software solutions.

Design rock-solid interfaces and plug-and-play modules that allow developers and research scientists to easily run experiments and gather the data they need to make informed decisions

Develop integrated software for a suite of experimental research components, bridging a variety of systems such as display engines, optical systems, tracking systems and sensors

Build platforms, tools, and documentation that enable more efficient and effective research

Learn constantly, educate others, build with inclusion as a core value, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Leading engineering teams

Driver, firmware, OS or embedded systems development

Hardware bring-up, hardware prototyping, and interfacing with new hardware SDKs

Game engines such as Unreal or Unity

Developing AR/VR applications

Display technologies and related SDKs such as DirectX, Vulkan or Metal

Camera and sensor technologies

AR/VR calibration

Optical science
