The VR HW Validation Team is responsible for developing and deploying validation capabilities that inform product decisions and drive design maturity for Meta’s VR portfolio. As a Hardware Test Automation Lead at Meta, you will be responsible for overseeing the software stack of our hardware test automation framework, enabling verification and validation of VR systems at the subsystem and system level.
This role requires good communication skills with internal and external team members to understand use cases and actively provide feedback on the test framework and test case implementation. A successful engineer in this role must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
10+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on developing automation solutions for hardware validation.
Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (Python, C++, Java, etc.) and related frameworks for hardware test automation.
Previous experience leading development of complex automation frameworks in the consumer electronics industry.
Communication and interpersonal skills, proven record of working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to influence project outcomes.
Proven experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Architect, design, and develop a robust and scalable Python-based software platform for automating hardware verification/validation of VR devices.
Develop a long-term test automation strategy to enable new validation capabilities to intersect future projects and technologies in a timely manner.
Collaborate with cross functional teams such as electrical, mechanical, firmware/software among others to identify product requirements and address validation gaps through automation and tools.
Interface with project managers to influence project scope, schedules, and resource allocations, ensuring timely and successful project deliveries.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
Develop tools that enable periodic deployment of software builds, execution of tests at the hardware level and data analysis as part of a comprehensive automation framework.
Experience working with Qualcomm chipsets for mobile or VR applications.
Understanding of electrical schematics and system architecture to analyze and improve test coverage at system level.
Familiarity with protocols used for instrument communication, (serial, USB, Ethernet, GPIB, etc.).
Experience developing tools to characterize/validate performance of DDR memory and NAND storage devices.
