The FRL Technology Engineering Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technology and delivering them to market at scale. The Technology Engineering Camera Team seeks a Photographic Imaging Engineer who has extended experience in leading imaging technology & algorithm development and evaluation in consumer electronics.
Develop and investigate state-of-the-art imaging software simulation tools to enable novel camera HW explorations, machine learning dataset generation, and product architecture tasks for consumer products.
Preferred candidate has strong understanding of camera optics, sensor, and image formation process, physically based scene rendering and simulation methods to simulate RAW image.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Advanced degree (M.S.) or equivalent acquired experience in a discipline such as Imaging Science, Optics, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Physics, or related fields.
Proficient in coding skills and practice. Experience coding in languages such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++, design code for efficiency, and target different platforms such as GPU, Cloud, and other.
Knowledge of image formation process (spectrum, optics/aberrations, PSF, sensor noise, Fourier theory, sampling/aliasing) needed to successfully model and simulate complex imaging phenomena.
Understanding of image sensor physical model, non-idealities, and behavior.
Description(岗位职责)
Develop custom internal imaging simulation software pipeline based on latest imaging simulation methods (e.g. ISET, ZEMAX, non-sequential ray tracing) to enable realistic simulation of real camera behavior for architecture, algorithms, and image quality development for consumer mobile products
Work with collaborators and technicians to validate simulator accuracy and experiment on iteratively improve simulator modeling capability and efficiency
Implement and support large dataset generation and processing for algorithms development (AI/ML) in new technology explorations
Partner with other scientists and technicians to develop and validate the imaging simulation software and improve its capability for specific investigations
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Experience in cloud or HPC computing for physical simulation
Experience using image simulation to generate large datasets for imaging system algorithm training
Experience in highly realistic or physically based 3D graphics rendering pipelines
Experience in advanced scene or object modeling through multispectral image or content capture
Experience with multiple advanced software methods for simulations of optics
Experience and understanding of 3D and projective geometry needed to simulate multiple views and complex ray mappings or projective camera models for different types of imaging (e.g. fisheye, omni-directional, etc.)
