TheIndustry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their challenges. We work closely with our customers to jointly develop cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform. In this role you will be working with multidisciplinary teams and our customers’ teams to apply your skills, perspectives, and creativity to grow and help solve our customers’ toughest challenges.

We are hiring a Designer, Industry Solutions Engineering. Together with your multidisciplinary team, you will be working side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their business and technical stakeholders creating visual and interactive collateral. You will solve exciting business and industry problems, produce compelling product stories, and collaborate across Microsoft product teams.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
  • OR Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
  • OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in three-dimensional (3D) spatial design leveraging 3D engines such as Unreal and Unity.
  • Broad multi-platform design and development experience – Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Mobile, Desktop & Cloud
  • Experience working as part of geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teams.
  • 5+ years of experience shipping games or products and/or delivering to customers as a result of end-to-end design process.
  • 5+ years leading a team of designers and artists which includes direction and career management.
  • Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%.

Product Design IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 – $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 – $238,600 per year.

Visual & interaction design

  • Create and implement visual design across a range of assets including presentations, concepts, and products.
  • Employ Microsoft design language and system for concepts and product development.
  • Produce and/or interpret briefs, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, interaction flows, prototypes and visual mockups as required to develop and evolve user experience designs.

Product Design

  • Contribute to setting design direction across customer facing projects based on understanding user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Work at the early concept phase, facilitating ideation sessions, storyboarding, depicting user scenarios and producing early concept mockups.
  • Work with teams to collect/interpret user feedback and incorporate findings into design solutions.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate design strategies, concepts and solutions to peers, partners and stakeholders through project lifecycles.
  • Participate in collaborating with creative team members, program managers, and technicians to define and iterate on product features.
  • Influence stakeholders across disciplines and connect dots between teams for optimal product designs.
