Reality Labs (RL) is seeking a seasoned engineer to join the Programs team, focusing on supporting developers across multiple development ecosystems and goals. This person will help develop and drive targeted, technical support on a 1:1 and scaled level, collaborating with Engineering, Product, Marketing, Programs, and Operations teams.
We are looking for someone interested in joining a small team that is charged with designing the support system for technical creators and VR developers who are members of our Metaverse-focused developer and technical creator programs. Developer Support Engineers are expected to design, grow and facilitate technical support in support of the development of a healthy developer and creator ecosystem.
As a successful candidate for this role, you will have: experience designing large-scale processes, a strong technical foundation, provided technical support to advanced technical audiences, be accomplished in driving large, cross-functional initiatives that solve complex problems, and be skilled in cultivating compelling, inclusive communities by lifting diverse perspectives.
3+ years experience in game development or in gaming adjacent fields (e.g., performance work, partner engineering, technical support in the gaming space)
1+ year experience developing in VR, 2D, Horizon Worlds, other scripting environments (e.g., Roblox, Lua, Python, Blueprint, Bolt), or any combination of these focuses
Experience leading cross-functional efforts across competing priorities and constrained resources
Proven communication, influencing and problem-solving skills
Experience getting things done independently and overcome obstacles by developing creative solutions
Experience working across multiple input streams and context switch efficiently
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Analyze, identify, and address inefficiencies in the current technical Program Support infrastructure.
Partner in developing a strong community presence within the Meta Horizon Worlds and VR ecosystems – focusing on building a sense of trust, comradery, and transparency between developers, the relevant Product teams, and Engineering teams.
Develop and maintain new and existing technical content to positively impact the future success of Horizon and VR developers.
Provide program members with effective solutions to technical problems.
Identify and communicate deep insights/trends about the developer communities to Engineering teams, Product teams, and the broader company.
Advocate for the technical needs of Program developers to relevant Engineering teams, Documentation teams, and Leadership.
Partner with the Programs, Product, and Engineering teams to improve the developer experience within the Meta ecosystem.
Experience with Zendesk or other ticketing systems
Proven track record of building successful developer support functions
Experience building in Horizon Worlds
Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience to develop strong working relationships
Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, and highly organized
Experience meeting multiple objectives in a high-paced environment with little supervision
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Game Development
Experience creating technical content or learning materials
Customer Support experience
Experience and familiarity using Discord
Experience in expanding and developing large scale communities
