At Meta Reality Labs, our goal is to explore, innovate, and design novel input devices and user interfaces for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for candidates to conduct research in sensing, tracking, and interaction techniques for next generation computing platforms. Your role will involve the development and evaluation of novel solutions to these problems and will require collaboration with world-leading experts and mentors in the AR/VR, HCI, CV/ML, and engineering fields.

The internship is 12-24 weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.


Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of computer science, human-computer interaction, electrical engineering, or related field.

Proven research skills involving defining problems, exploring solutions, analyzing and presenting results.

Mechanical and electrical prototyping skills.

Proficiency in C++, Matlab, or Python.

Familiarity with HCI user evaluation methodologies.

Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.


Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance AR/VR interaction technologies in advanced devices, sensors, and algorithms for processing user input.

Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and user experience researchers to prototype hardware and software solutions, and run experiments to advance the project.

Work with leading academic researchers in the field. The work should result in publishable research that appears in top-tier HCI or CV/ML journals or at leading international conferences.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Familiarity with CV/ML methods for real-time sensing (e.g. visual tracking).

Experience with Unity game engine.

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as UIST, CHI, IMWUT, or similar.

Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
