Our Technology Engineering for Devices (TED) team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future Oculus products. From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, TED is focused on transforming new technologies from early concept to product by iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences these technologies enable.
The Camera & Depth (C&D) team within TED develops high-performance camera and depth solutions for RL’s AR/VR products. This multidisciplinary group brings research to life by realizing state-of-the-art custom modules including ASICs, lasers, optics, firmware, software etc. C&D team is seeking a Depth Projector Module: Tx Lead for end-to-end ownership of laser based optical Tx modules from initial design to delivery in high volume.
This is a central role in realizing module maturity at respective product development milestones by consolidating work of many cross-functional partners. Example cross functional teams include architecture, optical, electrical, mechanical, process, test, firmware, components, third party vendors, operations, quality, reliability, product design etc.
Masters degree in electrical, mechanical, optics or related disciplines
5+ years of experience in consumer electronics or similar field
Experience in consumer electronics space following a product development cycle methodology
Experience in managing complex projects working in a highly matrixed organization
Own trade-off studies optimizing Tx module manufacturability, efficiency, cost, fit and reliability.
Define and document module requirements to cross functional partners and vendors.
Manage third party vendors to timely deliver solutions meeting all documented requirements.
Define supply chain test strategy to ensure rapid learnings during development.
Drive failure analysis to thoroughly understand all module failure modes and mechanisms.
Report out concise/clear status summaries to cross-functional executive teams.
Ph.D. degree in electrical, mechanical, optics or related disciplines
Experience in design and characterization of time of flight laser transmitter modules
Experience in mass production process, test and equipment development in consumer electronics space
Experience in custom ASIC and module integration electrical design for sensing applications
Experience in 850/940nm VCSEL design and development
Experience in optics design and development
Experience in manufacturing processes and process knowledge of high-production volume modules
Experience with data analysis and statistics using Python, MATLAB, JMP or other data analysis software
