Meta AR/VR Job | Research Scientist Intern, Algorithm-System Co-Design and Optimization (PhD)

Meta Reality Labs Research is looking for upcoming scientists and researchers with great interest in algorithm/hardware co-design and acceleration of ‘machine learning’/‘computer vision’ applications, efficient sensing and ML algorithms for AR/VR applications.
Our internships are twelve (12), to sixteen (16), or twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
2+ years research experience in one or more of the following: Developing machine learning and computer vision models, Machine learning accelerator and NPU design, Distributed compute architectures, and/or Emerging novel memory devices and 3D integration
2+ years experience programming in Python/C++/matlab
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Research on design / model / execution of ML algorithm on hardware architectures.
Research on novel ML or computational imaging algorithms for applications and optimize existing algorithms.
Collaboration with and support of other researchers across various disciplines.
Communication of research agenda, progress and results.
Prototyping, building and characterizing experimental systems and custom hardware.
Experience with Deep Learning frameworks (Pytorch, TensorFlow, etc)
Experience in 3D computer vision algorithms (Stereo depth, SLAM, object localization and tracking, scene understanding, etc)
Experience with developing and deploying algorithms with hardware constraints
Experience with ASIC development, FPGA prototyping, or SoCs
Experience in system modeling for all aspects of a digital system
Experience developing hardware using Verilog or high-level synthesis (HLS).
Proven track record of achieving significant results, as demonstrated by first- and/or co-authored publications at leading workshops or conference (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, ISSCC, TinyML, VLSI Symposium, IEDM, ASPLOS, JSSC, TCAS), patents, or grants
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
