We are looking for a skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our team, whose mission is to research and develop technologies for next generation AR/VR devices. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in Electrical Engineering who can work with a team of researchers who are developing novel haptic and energy systems for wearable AR/VR devices. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
BS in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
10+ years of experience working on multidisciplinary system design.
Detail-oriented with critical thinking skills, structured problem solving, and practical application of Design of Experiments (DOE).
Demonstrated experience working effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, inclusive of internal partners.
Organizational skills and experience working independently and in a team environment.
Develop techniques to deliver arbitrary tactile sensations at locations away from a device’s actuator, in the absence of other sensory modalities.
Investigate wave propagation through the human body and select frequencies and modes of propagation optimal for providing haptic sensations.
Investigate tactile perception as it related to modulation and target location on the body.
Develop techniques for beam control optimizing between complexity of calibration and fidelity of sensations.
Develop low complexity methods for calibration of remote haptic devices.
Evaluate state-of-the art power and energy systems relative to XR needs.
Propose and invent novel power and energy solutions to address unsatisfied needs.
Refine, validate and iterate system design concepts by modeling and prototyping.
Collaborate with the larger research and development team to explore concepts, perform trades and drive power and energy system development to create compelling experiences.
Experience with signal processing for beam control in a scattering environment.
Experience with energy harvesting devices such as thermal, mechanical, vibration, triboelectric, solar, RF, biochemical, etc.
