As a Display Mechanical Engineer, you will be a member of our RL Hardware development Engineering organization, taking a lead in display module mechanical design to set the technical goals, be the point of contact and interface to the product development team, lead the development of leading-edge technologies and designs, and works with the current and evolving ecosystem to provide differentiating capabilities to our HW platforms. You will be part of a group of highly talented engineers at the forefront of innovation for our VR products.
Display module mechanical design with knowledge in front-end display process, back-end module process, manufacturing and product integration.
5+ years of mechanical design experience in display module with Ph.D. or 7+ years working experience with BS degree, in mechanical engineering or equivalent field.
Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals: properties of materials, solid mechanics, statics, Newtonian physics, and heat transfer.
Track-record of ownership in developing and delivering consumer products.
Experience planning and performing DOE, statistical data analysis, yield improvement, root cause investigation, FACA.
Lead mechanical design engineering activities on display module.
Work closely with cross functional teams and external display partners to develop and deliver best display module.
Collaborating with internal and external partners, develop and propose optimized module designs, and review and approve design proposal from partners.
Identify risks, track and resolve mechanical issues through various phases of module development.
Lead the display module FAI and ME qualification process for engineering builds.
Generate, provide, and manage technical documentation including 3D CAD, MCO, ERS, SOP.
Travel up to 25% internationally.
Experience with simulation and analysis methods for structural, thermal, tolerance, mechanical test and measurement data analysis.
Design and prototyping experience in electro-mechanical or mechanical parts for high-volume, reliable products.
Design experience for reliability requirements in module or product system level.
Direct working experience with LCD or OLED display vendors.
Experience with manufacturing techniques such as injection-molding, machining, die-cutting, forging, etc. and materials such as plastics, metals, glass, etc.
Understanding of module level trade-offs with mechanical, optical, electrical performance.
Experience in managing display module engineering project and/or teams for consumer electronics applications.
Experience working with display vendors, JDM, ODMs and CMs.
In-depth understanding of LCD and OLED display technologies.
