Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) focuses on connecting people through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of these products require custom silicon. The Facebook Agile Silicon Team (FAST) is driving the state-of-the-art forward with breakthroughs in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistors, through architecture, to firmware and algorithms.
FAST End-to-End (E2E) system prototyping and validation team seeks an Electrical Engineer who has experience in the full cycle of board design, manufacturing and assembly. A successful candidate must have multiple years of hands-on experience in board development, signal integrity, bring-up, and debug. Additionally, a successful candidate is one who cultivates relationships with partner teams, partner vendors, and is an overall team player. The candidate must thrive in an environment of high creativity, high ambiguity, and high-fidelity designs. This is a full-time position.
Experience and knowledge of printed circuit board (PCB) technologies, such as rigid, hybrid, HDI, etc.
Experience with component selection, such as connectors, cables, etc.
Industry experience in embedded design, hardware architecture, board design, board bring-up and prototype and new product experience.
Experience being part of a technical team, cross-functional groups and vendors against plans.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering field with 7+ years industry experience.
Transform reference designs, or block diagrams into custom solutions.
Design schematics, complete board layouts, assembly, test, debug, and integrate designs.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as custom component designers, architects, product design teams, prototype teams, and supply chain.
Work closely with vendor resources to leverage their engineers and maximize the focus of internal resources on adding value to and differentiating our product.
Drive the resolution of technical issues by working with the cross-functional teams: Electrical, Mechanical, SW, Quality, Reliability as well as the various vendor teams.
Perform lab measurements, and factory tests as needed to validate the design and resolve any issues prior to releasing to internal teams.
Track test progress, bugs, and fixes and produce regular progress reports.
Lead pre-layout and post-layout simulation flow with a focus on high speed interface and PDN, create simulation models and develop simulation methodology for SI HW design.
Use simulation and lab data to support design troubleshooting and propose corrective actions, drive failure analysis, root cause efforts, and design of experiments to resolve problems.
Demonstrated experience in bringing new technologies to product.
Thrives to work in an agile environment, changing roadmaps and experience adapting project plans based on customer requests or changes.
Hands-on experience using 2D/2.5D/3D simulation tools, creation of complex SIPI models, frequency and time domain simulation.
Experience with SoC, RF, batteries, sensors integration, Display, custom ASIC/silicon.
Proven understanding of impedance control, transmission line and PDN characterization, feasibility study and create practical design guidelines.
Knowledge of the relationship between physical layout and electrical performance.
Experience in SI fundamentals, familiar with PCB and flex design and manufacture process.
