As a Micro-Robotics Engineer at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing next generation AR and VR Systems. You will become part of a team exploring the intersection of micro-actuator and opto-mechanical concepts: through design, modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. A wide range of approaches will be explored combining electrical, mechanical, optical, and software techniques. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype and then mature the design to a high-volume consumer product solution. We are looking for someone with a productive mindset who can apply their micro-actuator expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in micro-actuator technologies and systems development with experience in active opto-mechanical systems, sensor and controls development for micro-devices, strong prototyping skills, 3D CAD capability, and experience analyzing actuator power budgets.


5+ years experience working on high precision designs in micro-actuators, mechanics, mechatronics, or active optical designs.

Expertise in electronics and mechanical system testing, and associated data analysis and statistics.

Expertise in 3D design modeling (NX or SolidWorks) and physical prototyping.

Experience with actuator systems integration.

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Physics, or equivalent experience.

Understands and applies GD&T techniques and knows associated metrology approaches.

Expertise in closed-loop control algorithms.

Experience with FEA modeling, simulation, and data analysis using software tools such as COMSOL or ANSYS.

Proven English knowledge skills.


Design and develop novel micro-actuator technologies.

Perform micro-actuator selection and precision mechanism design.

Develop the sensors and controls necessary for closed-loop control of micro-actuators.

Apply rigorous engineering and tolerance techniques to high precision design requirements.

Support cross-functional integration of micro-actuator systems.

Develop system-level requirements, including electrical integration and power budget analyses.

Build and test prototypes and characterization systems.

Work with and manage vendors worldwide.

Prepare reports and present progress and results to leadership.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Experience with programming and data analysis tools such as: MATLAB, Python, C++, etc.

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Applied Physics, or equivalent experience.

Experience with mechanical and optical metrology devices such as optical profilometry, LDV, and interferometry.

Knowledge of component mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding.

Experience in consumer electronics product development and/or manufacturing.

Knowledge of materials and structural modeling/optimization.

Experience with REL testing including: thermal performance, shock, and vibration.
