The Reality Labs (RL) team focuses on delivering Meta’s vision through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). As a Mechanical Engineer on the RL AR hardware team, you will develop state-of-the-art mechanical designs, structures, mechanisms and sensor integration solutions that will create transformative experiences for users of Augmented Reality. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through analytical modeling and fast iterative prototyping. You will work on cutting edge technologies with a diverse cross-functional team of engineers and scientists that pioneer mechanical, electrical, optical, materials, firmware, software and computer vision solutions. We value people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, are able to drive a concept into a prototype and can envision how that prototype could transition into a high-volume consumer product.
We are excited to offer a new career development program to grow our RL Hardware team. We are seeking engineers, who are military veterans at all levels to work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers. You will support Product Engineering team members in developing and implementing custom product designs to drive our industry leading virtual and augmented reality systems. Military spouses may also apply.
This is a 12-month program with the Reality Labs Team. Once the program concludes, those who have demonstrated their abilities to succeed and make an impact at Meta will be considered for a full-time position.
Either BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in a technical role in the military
Experience working with technical or non-technical teams, cross-functional groups or vendors against plans
Experience articulating engineering solutions to both technical and nontechnical cross-functional partners
Military Veteran, transitioning Service Member, or military spouse
Contribute to mechanical solutions as a part of a team
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate concepts and detailed designs
Apply rigorous engineering techniques to solve challenging design problems
Analyze, optimize, build, test and refine prototypes
Experience in 3D CAD modeling and physical prototyping
