At Meta, we’re building the future of AR/VR. The Displays and Optics team is developing hardware components for next-generation products. Our Metrology Engineering group is looking for a new member to support our mission to provide quality measurements to help drive our R&D efforts. Working closely with our internal collaborators, academic institutes, external partners and vendors, this role would be responsible for metrology of novel materials and process development projects to provide key insights related to performance and troubleshooting efforts. This role is particularly suited for a candidate with a background in hands-on metrology for research applications, who is looking to gain experience in a diverse and fast-moving industry environment.

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Masters or PhD degree in Physics, Material Science, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Experience working with semiconductor, inorganic, organic materials and devices.

Experience operating and recipe development on SEM, CLM or TEM.

Experience using and interpreting advanced material characterization techniques like TEM, EDX, EELS, AFM, SIMS and XRD for assessing material quality.

Experience with data analysis software e.g. Origin or JMP.

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Develop recipes, Best Known Methods (BKM), and enablement for automated CLM (Cut Look Measure), SEM and STEM metrology for different applications.

Work with tech leads, peer engineers to plan and perform measurements for the characterization, metrology of different materials (semiconductors, metals, organic and inorganic) and devices, and can suggest follow-up studies for advanced characterization, failure analysis and reliability issues.

Analyzing and summarizing characterization, metrology data and communicating these results to internal and external partners.

Managing services with external partners or onboarding new partners to expand capabilities.

Owner of metrology equipment e.g. FIB+SEM, STEM, EDX etc., managing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting. Working with equipment vendors to coordinate tool repairs and upgrades as needed.

Develop, build documentation and improve standard operating procedures for measurements and analysis methods needed to extract key metrics.

Training and mentoring technicians, overseeing tool operation for routine measurements.

Partner with process-engineering, DFM, Integration owners to improve process yields and understand device performance.

Robust structured problem-solving skills and Root Cause Analysis.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Experience working directly on the tools and handling real wafers so clean room and wafer-FAB processing is preferred.

Demonstrate expertise and depth in the areas of Electron Microscopy, review related characterization and metrology techniques.

Experience enabling and owning metrology applications, equipment supporting challenging technology development environments.

Experience in using and interpreting advanced materials characterization techniques such as SEM, HR-STEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, Auger, EELS, SIMS.

Experience using scripting language e.g. Python, MATLAB, JMP.

Project planning and problem-solving techniques such as 8D.

Knowledge of processes including deposition, etch, lithography, metrology, cleans.

Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
