Reality Labs (RL) Sensors Team at Meta is helping build novel products in Augmented and Virtual Reality. Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge sensing technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products at Meta. We are looking for candidates with experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and rapid prototyping to assist with the development of novel sensing hardware within the RL Sensors Team, while collaborating with experts across multiple domains.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplines.
4+ years’ industry experience, directly contributing to mechanical design and rapid prototyping of hardware products.
Demonstrated experience in mechanical design of parts and assemblies for modern rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printers and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.
Familiarity with Design for Excellence (DFX) and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) analysis.
Demonstrated interpersonal experience in cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Demonstrated experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, NX and similar packages.
Familiarity with Inertial Sensors, Pressure Sensors, Magnetometers, Ultrasonic Transducers, and/or similar sensors.
Collaborate with internal and external research, design, and engineering teams to develop novel hardware products that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems.
Design, build, test, and refine hardware prototypes that integrate the full sensor system.
Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments related to sensor systems.
Communicate prototype ideas, trade-offs, decision points, and timelines to key internal and partner stakeholders.
High-level understanding of common electro-mechanical systems and sensor algorithms used in consumer electronics products.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and testing of hardware prototypes.
Familiarity with the emerging Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies.
Experience with scripting environments such as MATLAB and/or Python.
Familiarity with mass production processes such as injection molding and stamping.
High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving skills.
