As part of the Display and Optics Organization at Reality Labs, our team's mission is to invent and productize new process technologies, and push the boundaries of precision optics industry to support our ambitious roadmap for future AR/VR products. As a high-precision optical process development expert, you will be responsible to identify, invent and develop new fabrication technologies to enable scalable and efficient manufacturing of high-precision optical components. In this role, you will also be working with world class experts, and will have direct access to advanced labs with state-of-the-art equipment for precision optics manufacturing and metrology.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Bachelors degree in Engineering (Plastics, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, Process Development, or similar)
Proven competence with several precision optical fabrication techniques, such as injection molding, insert molding, compression molding, polymer casting, 3D printing, polishing and/or diamond turning
5+ years of industry experience with developing high-precision optical components for high-volume applications
5+ years of experience with developing fabrication technologies with external suppliers and bringing up new processes to manufacture high-volume optical components
3+ years of experience with end-to-end technology qualification including materials, process development and metrology, as well as establishing incoming, outgoing and in-process quality control plans
2+ years of experience with 3D CAD design software, and using FEA for process development (such as mold-flow analysis)
Description(岗位职责)
Spearhead the development of advanced fabrication technologies for high-precision optical components from concept to product-ready maturity.
Identify external partners/suppliers for technology development, and work with them to create technology roadmaps, and establish milestones to enable scalable and high-precision manufacturing of critical optical components.
Work with internal optics and advanced fabrication experts to create strong collaborations, identify the needs of future products and proactively develop new enabling fabrication technologies to intercept our ambitious display optics roadmaps.
Lead initial prototyping and proof-of-concept activities both internally and at development partners, while also driving the overall engineering-level pilot line qualification to ensure new fabrication technologies are mature, capable and scalable.
Domestic and international travel (up to 25%) to overseas vendor sites to help drive process optimization and component builds.
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
MS or PhD Degree in Engineering (Plastics, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, Process Development, or similar)
Experience with tooling design and qualification for high-volume fabrication of plastic optical components
Experience developing and using metrology equipment to enable custom measurements for unique and challenging optical components
Experience with overseeing post molding operations including but not limited to CNC machining, laser cutting and optical coatings
