Reality Labs brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of virtual and augmented reality, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. And just as personal computers have done over the past 45 years, AR and VR will ultimately change everything about how we work, play, and connect. We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets, including optics and displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, brain-computer interface, haptic interaction, eye/hand/face/body tracking, perception science, and true telepresence. Some of those will advance much faster than others, but they all need to happen to enable AR and VR that are so compelling that they become an integral part of our lives.
The team we are hiring for is specialized in generative modeling to solve the text entry problem for AR/VR devices. It consists of three pillars (smart keyboard, smart compose and smart replies) each of which is designed to improve typing speed and reduce friction in text input for wearables. Ultra-low friction text input solutions are critical for the Metaverse vision due to social acceptability, on-the-go applications and unique input affordances (e.g. virtual keyboards).
This is a high visibility, high impact space within Reality Labs with some key tech challenges: a strong need for high coverage, low latency and privacy. Faster text entry needs to deliver low error rates with high vocabulary coverage. We aim to minimize the keystrokes for a frictionless typing experience. It is only feasible if our response time to predict the next word(s) or appropriate response is within a strict latency budget. Doing so in a privacy-safe manner is critical for us; hence we perform on-device inference with a small memory footprint and invest in on-device training (e.g. federated learning, differential privacy) to capture user language patterns without violating their privacy.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Proficient in C++, PyTorch, Python.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in CS, or relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Experience in Natural Language Processing, Language Modeling, Generative Modeling, and Machine Learning.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Description(岗位职责)
Identify and solve fast text entry problems with AI solutions.
Invent, build, experiment and deploy AI models across AR/VR devices.
Design, develop and implement production level code that serves AR/VR users. Own the full development cycle from inception to prototyping, A/B testing and deployment.
Collaborate with fellow engineers, designers, product managers and linguists to find technical solutions to complex technical problems.
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Experience in research and development of innovative ideas, and shipping production-ready solutions.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, ICML, NeurIPS, COLING, NAACL, JMLR, ICLR.
Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
Strong communication skills.
Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
