The Mixed Reality HW and Advanced Optics Team in Finland is expanding to include novel optical cloud systems for Azure’s datacenter infrastructure. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Optical Engineer to join our fresh Advanced Optics for the Cloud Team to develop the disruptive technology for cloud storage systems.

As a Senior Optical Engineer, you’ll get to know the requirements of the cloud storage systems and how these requirements are translated into new optical data storage system. You’ll also learn how the femtosecond lasers, beam scanners, modulators and polarization optics can be used for creating a unique optical cloud storage system.
You’ll be working in a world class multi-disciplinary team of optics, electronics and mechanics specialists and a leadership that will guide and help you grow on your career. Qualifications(岗位要求)
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of 3-5+ years of experience in optical design or optical development work
- BS/MS in photonics, optics, laser physics or equivalent engineering discipline
- Experience on product development
- Hands on experience on lasers, laser optics, free space optics, optical modulators, beam scanning systems
- Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD on a related field
- Understanding of non-linear optics and laser material processing
- Experience in femtosecond optics
- Hands on experience on microscopy and polarization imaging

Description(岗位职责)
Responsibilities
- The Development and Productization of optics of the new data storage system
- Generation and evaluation of different optical subsystem concepts and prototypes
- Design of engineering verification tests for sub-system prototypes
- Innovation and optimization of optical sub-system concepts to maximize the system-level performance
- Partnering with internal project stakeholders
- Partnering and technical steering of external stakeholders such as subcontractors and subsystem suppliers
- Contribute to building the optics team, including talent hiring and people skill development
Skills
- Optical design for manufacture using geometrical and physical optics
- Experience with the physics of ultrashort lasers and polarization imaging systems preferred
- Hands on experience with electro-optical polarization modulators, high-speed beam scanning and guiding systems
- Experience on microscopy, polarization imaging, and image processing preferred
- Excellent communication skills that can provide clarity to audiences that include customers, peers, and executive leadership
- Understanding of systems-thinking and partitioning complex systems into clear optical engineering architectures
- Ability to leverage the strengths of a multi-disciplinary team, which backgrounds in physics, research, software, hardware engineering, and product development
- Supply chain analysis of components and sub-systems
