Summary(岗位介绍)

We are currently seeking innovative Research Scientists with experience in Optical Science and Polarization Optics to develop advanced polarization patterning solutions in order to pave the path to the next generation near-to-eye augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) displays. This is a full-time position and requires an advanced degree in Physics, Optical Science, Electric Engineering, Materials Science, or similar, and a strong background in diffractive optics, polarization optics, optics modeling, and innovation. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic cross-functional and fast-paced team.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience in Physics, Optical Science, Electric Engineering, Materials Science, or similar.

3+ years of research experience handling holographic elements in design, fabrication and metrology.

3+ years of working experience in polarization optics and physical optics modeling tools, such as MATLAB, Python, COMSOL, and methods such as Jones Matrix, FDTD, or RCWA, etc.

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Description(岗位职责)

Lead research & development in holograms recording & metrology on curved surfaces to enable next generation near-to-eye augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) display designs.

Create viable patterning capabilities for recording materials with anisotropy on curved surfaces through optical designs and experimental validations.

Develop customized hologram recording systems to enable 2D/3D anisotropy structures on flat and curved surfaces.

Own evaluation and characterization of 2D/3D anisotropy structures on curved surfaces, as part of the proof-of-concept and iteration process.

Collaborate with Opto-ME teams to improve existing polarization patterning and metrology tools and build new tools to meet dynamic project needs.

Collaborate closely with team members to establish the simulation, fabrication and metrology close loop for advanced devices with anisotropy and their performance in AR/VR displays.

Support on-going team external engagements, and initiate new partnerships based on business needs.

Set project timelines, deliverables and roadmaps, proactively communicate the project status with stakeholders, and mitigate project risks to ensure the success.

Collaborate with the larger research and product development team to explore concepts, evaluate and drive new devices development to create compelling experiences at system level.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

3+ years working experience in freeform optics design and optical metrology.

3+ years working experience in optical system design and polarization ray tracing tools of FRED, CODE V or ZEMAX etc.

3+ years research experience in applying existing and emerging optical technologies and incubating an idea from concept validation to system improvement of NEDs.

Experience in coaching and mentoring others in the team.

Experience in managing ambiguity and conflict of interest at work.

Experience in project management and working with cross-functional teams for solving complex technical problems.
