At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Manager to join and lead our Softgoods Research and Development team, whose mission is to design, build, and test soft wearable systems for future consumer VR and AR experiences. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated hands-on experience developing and engineering innovative soft goods products, accessories, and integrated interface elements for consumer electronics. They will be committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where every team member is empowered to leverage their strengths in order to deliver their best impact. They will also demonstrate strong communication skills, the capacity to connect meaningfully with their direct reports, the vision for creating research roadmaps and scaling the team to deliver them, and the skill with which to drive consensus and collaboration across functional organizations. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
BS in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Apparel Design, Product Development, Industrial Manufacturing, Consumer Electronics, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
10+ years industry experience using a wide variety of soft goods manufacturing techniques, processes, machines and materials to develop textile based products.
7+ years of experience leading projects and teams and delivering research or product prototypes in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
5+ years experience building, leading and managing teams of 10 or more people.
Experience in an environment with a high degree of ambiguity and a lack of clear requirements.
Description（岗位职责）
Manage and give high level direction to a team of functional soft goods developers and engineers working to integrate hard and soft technologies into textile substrates of soft wearable technology research devices.
Set clear expectations and create a positive, supportive, and inclusive work environment based on individual accountability.
Drive cross-functional consensus building within, and external to, immediate team and organization in a highly ambiguous environment.
Own R&D roadmapping of wearable tech devices and functional textiles, leveraging broad soft goods development perspective to connect long tailed research to integrated soft wearable prototypes.
Own a strategy for scaling the soft goods development team to deliver on roadmaps. Advocate and strategize for space, headcount and equipment.
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
Masters or PhD in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Apparel Design, Product Development, Industrial Manufacturing, Consumer Electronics, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience designing and building technical apparel, e-textiles, functional garments, wearables, or smart textiles.
Experience with the layer development, molding, and/or shaping of textile-based constructions.
Experience with the design, development and launch of consumer electronic products.
Experience with a wide variety of textiles, foams, films, coatings, additives, and adhesives and in-depth knowledge of fabric and textile constructions and weaves.
