Reality Labs brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of virtual and augmented reality, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. Just as personal computers have done over the past 45 years, AR and VR will ultimately change everything about how we work, play, and connect. We are developing all the technologies needed to enable breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets, including optics and displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, brain-computer interface, haptic interaction, eye/hand/face/body tracking, perception science, and true telepresence. Some of those will advance much faster than others, but they all need to happen to enable AR and VR that are so compelling that they become an integral part of our lives.

The audio team within Reality Labs Research (RL-R) is looking for an experienced, innovative Research Scientist with expertise in spatial audio. In this position, you’ll develop advanced algorithms and signal processing techniques to solve complex problems in the intersection between spatial audio personalization, acoustics and signal processing, to advance the state-of-the art technologies that will change the way we perceive spatial audio in the metaverse.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

PhD in the field of Applied Mathematics, Audio Engineering and Signal Processing, Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

3+ years experience developing, implementing and evaluating algorithm and signal processing techniques for spatial audio.

3+ years experience in programming in C++, MATLAB, or Python.

Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

Description(岗位职责)

Develop novel algorithms and signal processing techniques to solve complex problems at the intersection between spatial audio personalization, acoustics and signal processing with applications in VR and AR.

Lead the development of applications to enable quick prototyping, proof-of-concept and demonstrations.

Design, execution, and results analysis of perceptual studies, in the field of spatial audio.

Collaborate with teams in the larger Reality Labs org and provide creative leadership on cross-team technologies.

Collaborate with external academic groups to advance our research goals.

Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Demonstrated experience developing end-to-end systems for spatial audio personalization.

Demonstrated experience designing, executing and analyzing perceptual studies to evaluate spatial audio performance.

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored conference publications or journal articles such as: Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Audio Engineering Society (AES), IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), Journal of Acoustical Society of America (JASA), and IEEE transactions and workshops.
