For this role, RL Research is looking for a research engineering team lead to explore the design and implementation of quality evaluation processes to improve avatar-mediated communication. If you are passionate about analyzing and improving photorealistic avatars, working with large datasets and distributed compute at scale, operating in an interdisciplinary environment, and helping your team coordinate and collaborate in the face of ambitious and ambiguous challenges, we might have a spot for you.
2+ years of experience managing software engineers
Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, program management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience setting direction, goals and leading teams to consistently deliver on their milestones
Demonstrated interpersonal communication experience in working across many disciplines, mentoring team members, performance management, and facilitating individuals and the team to find solutions to problems
Demonstrated experience in analyzing outputs of machine learning algorithms and implementing solutions to improve quality
Demonstrated experience reporting findings with stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration
Lead the Quality Evaluation team to design and implement quality evaluation processes to improve avatar quality and avatar-mediate communication
People management and hands-on technical leadership and mentoring of the team: Set goals and direction, guide technical design, plan tasks
Define reusable metrics to measure the quality of avatar creation and avatar-mediated communication
Design and implement novel tooling to enable evaluation of the avatar creation and avatar-mediated communication
Design and execute studies to evaluate the quality of avatar creation and avatar-mediated communication
Design and implement sustainable processes for continuous quality evaluation of avatar creation and avatar-mediated communication
Communicate cross-functionally and with leadership to drive efforts
Build technical relationships with research and engineering teams across the labs
Communicate results to relevant teams to influence improvements to avatar creation and avatar-mediate communication
5+ years of experience in avatar-related fields, including computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, robotics, audio processing, user experience research, and perceptual research
Experience in accelerating quality improvements through tightening the feedback loop between data collection, machine learning, and quality evaluation
