We are looking for a highly motivated and seasoned Mechanical Testing Engineer who enjoys bringing both technical and tactical expertise to cross-disciplinary teams and is excited about leading product designs through providing thoughtful mechanical testing and mechanical model validation. A strong mix of technical breadth and depth on will allow you to work cross-functionally with mechanical, optics, electrical and reliability teams and transforming technology into compelling consumer experiences.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the Sciences or Engineering and 5+ years of post-academic experience
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in the Sciences or Engineering and 3+ years of post-academic experience (Post Docs are considered academic)
  • 3+ years of experience (including academic) in one or both of the following areas
    • Planning and executing part- and system-level mechanical testing (impact, quasi-static, dynamic, etc.) including measurement strategy of strain, displacement, and acceleration
    • Validation of FEA mechanical/material models (impact, quasi-static, dynamic, etc)
  • Have experience working with large time-series data sets (preferably in Matlab or Python)
  • Due to contractual limitations and ITAR obligations associated with this role, U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) is required

Preferred

  • PhD in the Science or Engineering and 5+ years of post-academic experience
  • Possess working experience in opto-mechanical testing (bore-sight, stability, characterization, etc)
  • Possess advanced working knowledge of data acquisition
    • LabView and National Instruments hardware (cDAQ, PXI/PXIe, etc)
    • Analog sensor interfacing and measurement best-practices
    • Digital communication and control buses and protocols: SPI, UART (RS232/485); SCPI, MODBUS, including writing basic interface drivers for these protocols
    • Analog signal conditioning and acquisition requirements (understanding noise sources, selecting sampling rates, choosing analog and digital filtering requirements)
  • Have experience programming with VBA for Microsoft Excel

Description(岗位职责)

  • Provide proven leadership and problem solving for mechanically testing devices at a part or system level.
  • Drive engagement with vendors to select most suitable materials and processes, generate performance specification and qualification plan for components with product designers
  • Lead the failure analysis effort and develop mitigation plans during product development process by providing specific guidance to vendors and informing cross-functional teams on risks and trade-offs
  • Drive internal and external materials analysis and characterizations for polymer materials
  • The candidate must be willing and able to travel (domestic and international) to support design and manufacturing activities.
