Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is a world leader in the design of virtual and augmented reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative research interns with a passion for technology to develop next-generation head-mounted display and imaging systems at our research location in Redmond, WA. These roles are focused on developing advanced optical imaging and sensing systems for near eye display. In particular we welcome PhD students in optics, electrical engineering, applied physics or similar, with a strong background in optical design, optical instrumentation, sensing and detection,or testing and metrology. Our internships are sixteen (16) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of Optics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Strong knowledge in geometric optics, physical optics, radiometry and detection.

2+ years experience with optical design software, Code V, Zemax, FRED, or Lighttools.

2+ years experience with scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, Mathematica, or similar.

Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

Description(岗位职责)

Develop next generation AR/VR display prototypes with an emphasis on both modeling and prototyping of new concepts.

Develop specialized optical instrumentations to support the latest AR/VR optics and display research. Collaborate with the larger FRL team and provide creative leadership on computational display, imaging, and sensing technologies.

Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.

2+ years experience with optical design, sequential or non-sequential ray-tracing.

2+ years experience with optical instrumentation, emphasizing modeling and hardware prototyping.

Experience with optical instrument automation and calibration.

Experience with illumination design and prototyping of illumination systems.

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications in journals or at conferences, etc.

Demonstrated experience via an internship, work experience.
