Reality Labs (RL) is a world leader in the design of virtual reality systems.
We are currently seeking an innovative research intern with a strong background in mechanics of soft materials and textiles at our research location in Redmond, WA. This role will focus on building and characterizing the mechanical behaviors of actuated or sensing textiles. In particular, we welcome PhD students in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, textile science or similar fields. Our internships are sixteen (16) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Qualifications（岗位要求）
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of textile engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
1+ years experience in building functional textiles and garments or other prototypes from soft materials.
1+ years experience with mechanical characterization of textiles or other soft materials.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Description（岗位职责）
Design and build textile based prototypes.
Develop an experimental plan for mechanical characterization using Instron and other methods.
Develop models based on experimental data to aid in textile design and predictable mechanical properties.
Collaborate with the larger research team, present and share results with key stakeholders.
The type of work should be publishable research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences in engineered textiles, materials science or mechanical engineering.
Additional Requirements（额外要求）
Experience with actuated or sensing soft materials.
Experience in functional garments and textiles.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications.
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
