Meta AR/VR Job | Visiting Researcher, Interface Physics

Job(岗位): Visiting Researcher, Interface Physics

Type(岗位类型): Research

Citys(岗位城市): Redmond, WA

Date(发布日期): Before 2021-12-14

Summary(岗位介绍)

At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Interface Physics Visiting Researcher to join our team, whose mission is to create the future of soft, wearable technology. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in modeling and optimization of energy transport across contact interfaces and who can work with a team of researchers who are enabling new architectures for wearables. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Ph.D. in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Physics or equivalent.

2+ years of experience in deriving governing equations for complex contact/interface problems that require multi-physics coupling.

1+ years of experience with numerical methods, such as finite element and finite volume.

2+ years of experience with a programming language, such as Python, MATLAB, C or C++.

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Description(岗位职责)

Set up first principles-based analysis for various interface energy transport phenomena that include mechanical, thermal and electrical energy.

Build complex contact mechanics models that involve consideration of large deformation, surface roughness, adhesion and multi-phase physics.

Derive governing equations for multi-physics processes and solve the equations with analytical or numerical methods.

Apply rigorous physics and engineering analysis in the areas of contact and interface physics.

Partner with research, hardware engineering, and design teams to create and test novel wearable AR/VR devices.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

1+ years of experience with skin-device contact modeling and design.

1+ years of experience with designing and building simple prototypes/experiments to validate proposed interface physics models.

Track record of achieving results demonstrated by at least one first-authored journal publication.
