Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is a world leader in the design of virtual reality systems. We are currently seeking an innovative research intern with a strong background in multi-physics simulation at our research location in Redmond, WA. This role will focus on building the mathematical and numerical framework for various electro-mechanical physics seen in actuators or sensors. In particular, we welcome PhD students in theoretical and applied mechanics, applied physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar fields. Our internships are sixteen (16) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics, applied physics, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.

Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

1+ years experience in building multi-physics models, preferably on electron transfer coupled with large deformation.

1+ years experience with writing codes for scientific numerical analysis.

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Description(岗位职责)

Build the mathematical and numerical framework for electro-mechanical physics encountered in various actuators or sensors.

Predict novel physics that have not been observed in experiments and perform simple experiments or collaborate with others to verify the prediction.

Collaborate with the larger Oculus Research team and provide creative leadership on multi-physics simulation and optimization.

The type of work should be publishable research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences in applied mechanics or physics.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Experience in analyzing electron transfer within dielectrics, calculating electrostatic force.

Demonstrated experience in contact mechanics, soft material mechanics, numerical simulation and optimization.

Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
