Summary(岗位介绍)

Development of the display system for next generation augmented reality displays is one of the core missions of the Facebook Reality Labs team. The design of augmented reality displays involves the solution of challenging optimization problems. The research in this internship brings together ideas from physics and computational electromagnetics, applied mathematics and solver design, and machine learning to advance the state of the art of the optimization of augmented reality displays.

Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Optical Science or Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field

2+ years experience in nanophotonics, photonic crystals, plasmonics, or metamaterials

2+ years experience with scientific programming languages such as Matlab and Python

2+ years experience with computational EM algorithms such as FDFD, RCWA, or FDTD

1+ years experience with electromagnetic simulation software such as Lumerical, Meep, Comsol or S4

Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

Description(岗位职责)

Research and develop machine learning models and algorithms for photonic design and optimization of augmented reality displays

Implement proof-of-concept tools and infrastructure that redefine the state-of-the-art of photonic design capability

Collaborate with the larger Facebook Reality Labs team and provide creative leadership on computational methods for augmented reality display optimization and design

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship

Demonstrated experience via an internship, work experience, or widely used contributions to open source projects

Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications

1+ years experience with experimental optics and conducting laboratory work (i.e., demonstrated ability to construct proof-of-concept systems and to evaluate performance)

Familiar with processes and tools used for fabricating and testing nanophotonic structures and components
