The Camera & Sensor group in Facebook is currently seeking innovative research interns with a passion for technology to develop new depth sensor hardware and algorithms at our research location in Redmond, WA. This role is focused on developing prototype hardware and/or CV/ML algorithm pipelines for novel sensor and illuminator technology, with a possible emphasis on design and evaluation of illumination or sensor architectures, depth reconstruction algorithm, quantitative performance modeling, or similar topics.
Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Optical Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
2+ years experience in computational imaging research, modeling of imaging systems, or similar.
2+ years experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, C#, or similar.
2+ years lab experience working with optical hardware and/or image sensors.
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Description(岗位职责)
Design and/or evaluate novel depth sensor prototypes that demonstrate proof of concept in an experimental system architecture.
Characterization and integration of novel illuminator concepts/prototypes in the depth sensor system.
Develop and evaluate algorithms compatible with novel sensor prototype hardware.
Develop mathematical models that quantitatively describe system performance.
Participate in innovative research in computer vision and applied machine learning.
Work cross functionally with technical experts in other disciplines to develop experimental setups and prototype concepts.
Summarize and communicate results to technical leads across Facebook AR/VR.
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
Experience with active depth sensors (e.g. structured light, indirect/direct time-of-flight sensors) and working with depth data and/or point clouds.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications in journals (e.g. IEEE TIP/TCI, Opt. Express) or conferences (e.g. ICCP, ICIP, ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, SIGGRAPH).
Experience with automated characterization of optoelectronic devices with Python, MATLAB, or similar.
Knowledge in image processing, 3D geometry and numerical optimization.
Experience in performance and optimization of CV/ML or image processing software modules, particularly in the context of AR, VR, and/or MR.
Ability to communicate complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner.
