Apple AR/VR Job | Senior Optical Module Process Engineer

Apple’s PPO Sensing Group is looking for a senior level process engineer to work on developing exciting new products! Join us and you’ll be responsible for providing module assembly solutions for an opto-mechanical system. Report directly to the module process engineering manager, work with an internal optical design team, mechanical engineering team, EE team, and the external equipment, suppliers to develop and deploy new technologies. We are looking for individuals who are innovative with a consistent track record of working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
5+ years of semiconductor packaging, camera module, AR/VR optical module assembly experience.
In-depth knowledge in assembling optical component and subcomponent, light emitting devices/imaging devices including DFM, tolerance analysis, design rules, adhesives, post process characterizations and process control set up.
In-depth knowledge in high precision component alignment, placement, and attachment equipment. Able to work w/vendor to design, and upgrade new process features to enable new requirements.
In-depth knowledge in UV cure and thermal cure process and characterizations.
Understanding of optical and mechanical interactions and trade-off analysis.
Strong ability to identify risks and de-risk.
Strong failure analysis (FA) capability to resolve post process failures and reliability failures.
Strong interpersonal skills and open-minded when working with cross functional teams, and apply technical influence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Present ideas, design concepts, data and plan with high confidence at team meetings and executive review meetings.
Proven track record to work with outsourced vendors to bring up a product from conceptual to MP stage.
Define new package special characteristics based on unique system level performance, cost, and footprint requirements. Own optical sub-module design function including conceptual, iterations and final tape out.
Use FMEA to define risk items and mitigations. Use Major Issue List to initiate, track and direct module integration’s development activities. Develop a scale-able assembly process from design phase, which includes but not limited to, the initial proof of concept demo, novel process, new equipment and materials development, process control plan, IQC and OQC, yield analysis and enhancement. Establish and transfer POR (process of record) to Operation Team on time before ramp-up.
Interface and coordinate with other team members to meet product development/ramp schedule. Participate in signoffs at various milestone stages. Regularly updates the x-functional team and executive team on the project progress.
