Reality Labs Research (RL-R) brings together a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers to create the future of augmented and virtual reality. On the Codec Avatars Research team, you’ll work in collaboration with engineers and researchers to capture, store, and process the large amounts of data needed to enable the generation of Codec Avatars.

In this Systems Engineer role on Codec Avatars Research Team, you will foster our early stage scientific explorations and build confidence in research vectors. You will be responsible for the intake of requirements from researchers and engineers, work with TPM’s to manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders. Communication and technical aptitude are critical in this role as you will be the liaison between researchers, operations teams, and electrical/mechanical/firmware/software engineers, and you will assist with determining project priority and feasibility.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience working independently, handling concurrent projects where timelines may be ambiguous or changing, and prioritizing team roadmap and deliverables by balancing required effort with resulting impact
3+ years of systems engineering experience including including requirement decomposition, system boundary and interface designs, root cause analysis and robotic control
Experience with early stage research and rapid prototype practices
Experience in working with cross-functional teams
Description(岗位职责)
Accountable for the technical execution of early stage research pilots where documentation is sparse, ambiguity is high, and system robustness is not at a product or production level
Accountable for providing technical direction for new combinations of systems, resolving any ambiguity with SW/FW/HW interfaces
Accountable for success of assigned pilot captures, requiring perseverance in troubleshooting and solving problems in the field and on your feet
Responsible for contributing to system improvements to improve efficiency of running pilot captures, including collaboration with partner teams to enact these changes
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Experience leading a multidisciplinary team to execute short form initiatives and leveraging breadth of skills to fill in gaps
5+ years of systems engineering experience
Experience in the following Technical Areas - System synchronization - Develop options for how we’re phase locking the different systems, as well as the time-stamping methodology - System calibration - Solving the geometric, and potentially photometric challenges between systems - Linux operating system and command line interfaces - Bash and python scripting - Experience in systems integration including verification testing, functional testing, system training, system health monitoring and triage management - Some experience with mechanical design and CAD software such as Solidworks, Fusion360 and NX
Experience with user studies and data acquisition
