As a Systems Power and Performance Architect at Reality Labs, you will lead system-level power and performance modeling and requirements definition on upcoming Wearable products. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, thrive in ambiguity, are able to map tradespaces, are able to drive a concept into a prototype, and can envision how a prototype could transition into a high-volume consumer product.
Starting with a broad engineering background in electrical engineering, computer science, semiconductors or related fields, the ideal candidate for this role would have: (a) previous roles driving architecture convergence on complex consumer electronics products; (b) experience with power and performance analysis for full systems and compute silicon, including building analytical predictive models based on workload decomposition and power/performance characterization data; (c) experience with power characterization, debugging and root-cause analysis, setting up telemetry frameworks to derive insights on system power usage.
Qualifications(岗位要求)
Background in electrical, systems or computer engineering with 5+ years of experience in consumer electronics, robotics, automotive, medical devices or similar industries
Experience communicating technical requirements and concepts to Product Managers and Hardware/Software cross-functional teams
Experience modeling system power and using that to inform trade-offs against key architectural decisions (e.g. battery life, thermal design, silicon roadmaps, power load profiles, system SW policies for power management)
Experience working with external silicon / electrical component suppliers to evaluate power consumption using available technical documentation and internal benchmarking
Familiarity with benchtop equipment and profiling tools to characterize system- and component-level power consumption
Description(岗位职责)
Develop system power models for Wearable products based on use-case data flows. Estimate battery life based on usage profiles defined by Product Management, device operating conditions, battery characteristics, thermal dissipation characteristics and other factors
Provide SW teams with guidelines on system resource utilization and work closely with them to determine software policies for system power and thermal management
Contribute to improvements in power modeling tooling and capabilities, that can be leveraged across product lines and platforms
Drive early-stage power assessment of new silicon platforms. Set power targets for next-gen SoCs and compute silicon
Deliver engineering solutions for the most challenging architectural problems in early phase concept development (ensuring translation of marketing requirements to product)
Create hardware system metrics, KPIs, standards and tools
Travel up to 15% time domestically and internationally
Additional Requirements(额外要求)
Working knowledge of scripting languages
MS / PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering other related technical field or equivalent experience
Experience decomposing various software and system workloads to assess system resource utilization and identify performance bottlenecks
Experience with consumer electronics power management design & characterization, hands on experience with power tree / power delivery network is a plus
Experience with electrical components power characterization, e.g. processor, DSP, camera subsystem, display subsystem, sensor subsystem etc.
Strong understanding of image processing, machine learning and computer vision algorithm pipelines
Understanding of memory subsystems including mass storage and filesystem as well as volatile memory. Familiarity with assessing memory utilization and associated impact on system performance
Experience creating models to analyze system compute, latency and communication interface bandwidth within a heterogeneous compute environment in order to define a system architecture that meets product goals
Experience with influencing silicon vendors roadmaps and SoC feature sets with emphasis on using advanced IP in the realms of Machine Learning, Graphics and Imaging
Experience with multi-variable statistical analysis methods
Working knowledge of Android and Linux Kernel Power Management frameworks
