We are currently seeking a Leader for our Waveguide Productization team. This manager will lead the strategy to manage the activity associated with product development and development build support as part of the Product Development Life Cycle. The candidate will manage a team of managers and engineers consisting of integration, process development, and metrologist whose mission is to ramp up new technology with our development and manufacturing partner and enable state-of-the-art display performance. The position will be responsible for process, material, and device qualification for prototype build volumes supporting our integrated display system. This is a full-time position and requires experience leading partnerships and foundational knowledge in engineering system best practices, ideally with direct experience scaling optical or photonic components with a third-party partner. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in and leading a dynamic cross-functional team.
The candidate will own our external relationship in the Development Phase and will work collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition to manufacturing with our operation, manufacturing, and sourcing teams. The right candidate will foster a strong team health, grow the team consisting of critical process knowledge and skill that can work closely with an external partner to develop an integrated process flow and process-design-kit development that allows it to support the product design requirements.
7+ years experience managing external partnerships.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
5+ years of management experience in a development (or similar environment).
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
7+ years experience in component/product development of physical optics, optics, photonic components (or equivalent).
Experience working independently and managing a project from start to finish.
Establish the organizational vision & our external partner engagement strategy.
Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships.
Working cross-functionally to ensure program milestone and performance checkpoints are documented and understood.
Actively manage project priorities and team assignments aligned to overall program commitments.
Define clear roles and responsibilities and associated accountability.
Establish and deploy methodologies appropriate for bringing new-to-world optical components to market via partners.
Manage team health and establish clear career paths for your team members.
Continuing to build a team and culture the promotes diversity and inclusion.
Mentor cross-functionally growing members of the broader organization.
Support evaluation and characterization of optical components, and system integration.
Collaborate with the larger display system team to perform tradespace studies for optimized performance, and drive optical system development to create compelling experiences.
Manage a team of managers. Responsibilities include meeting regularly with team members, providing career planning guidance, and performing semi-annual performance reviews.
Experience managing managers in either a development or manufacturing setting.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by product launches, or sophisticated component-level delivery.
15+ years of experience delivering sophisticated components with one or more of the following: optics, diffractive optics, holograms, silicon photonics, MEMs, Silicon device or similar.
MS in the field of Optical Sciences, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
4+ years of experience with Augmented or Virtual reality space.
Experience with fundamentals in one or more of the disciplines: optical design and measurement, optics fabrication, optical system design, physical optics, meta-structures and optical metrology.
Experience managing a large scale development partnership with executive level interactions and communications.
Base understanding of diffractive optics (or similar) fabrication flows, associated metrology, and design sensitivities.
