The Imaging and Sensing group at Apple develops algorithms for scene understanding and
depth sensing using active (e.g Lidar and True Depth cameras) and passive (e.g Monocular and Stereo RGB cameras) sensors for enabling features for Photography, AR, and more. This multi-disciplinary group of engineers is responsible for research, architecture, design, and development of future Apple products and technologies.
The Imaging and Sensing group is looking for an extraordinary data engineer, computer vision, and machine learning engineer to drive state-of-the-art technologies for Apple products. As part of the team, you would work in an interdisciplinary team, that combines expertise in image processing, computer vision, deep learning, and software engineering. Our close-knit team fosters an environment of product innovation, rapid product iteration, and collaboration at both team and multi-functional levels with a liberating amount of autonomy.
We are looking for a Data Engineer with experience with large data processing, classic computer vision algorithms, and deep learning. In this role, you will be responsible to develop robust data pipelines from raw data (synthetic or real world) to encapsulated ready-for-training datasets. This includes smart filtering, data creation, and enrichment by running different Computer Vision algorithms on the data, train-validation splitting, dealing with 3D geometry and multi-cameras calibration metadata, and testing the data with training pipelines.

Experience in creating and processing big datasets for computer vision tasks.
Expert knowledge in machine learning techniques and systems, with focus on data engineering and data mining.
Strong coding skills in Python and passion for building efficient and robust pipelines for datasets creation and evaluation.
Experience with classic computer vision algorithms.
Profound knowledge in machine learning and deep learning techniques combined with practical experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch or similar.
Solid foundation in 3D geometry and linear algebra.
Experience with large data parallel processing in the cloud and systems like AWS.
Interest in 3D games rendering or simulations.
Organization, multi-tasking, production oriented, love for excellent documentation.
Creativity and curiosity for solving highly complex problems.

Develop and deliver high-quality datasets for training computer vision algorithms for existing and future Apple products. Working with real and synthetic data to filter, enrich and optimize datasets for training and validation. Developing pipelines for parallel multiprocessing in the cloud, creating of new synthetic data, and investigating the data for constant improvements.
Designing such algorithms to work reliably and efficiently on various Apple devices.
