Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) devices must satisfy a stringent form factor, computing, power, and thermal requirements. Meta Reality Labs Research is looking for emerging scientists and research with interest in full software-hardware co-design of always-on algorithms being deployed on form-factor constrained AR/VR devices. The main objective of this research is to explore methods to push the boundaries of what is possible on our constrained platforms.
Our internships are twelve (12), to sixteen (16), or twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
2+ years research experience in one or more of the following: machine learning accelerator and NPU design, deployment of AI algorithms on embedded systems, distributed compute architectures, emerging novel memory devices and 3D integration.
2+ years experience programming in C or Python.
Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Research on deployment of ML algorithms on hardware architectures.
Prototyping, building and characterizing experimental systems and custom hardware.
Collaboration with and support of other researchers across various disciplines.
Communication of research agenda, progress and results.
Experience with developing and deploying algorithms with hardware constraints.
Experience with GNU Debugger (gdb).
Experience with Deep Learning frameworks (Pytorch, TensorFlow, etc.)
Experience with ASIC development, FPGA prototyping, or SoCs.
Experience in system modeling for all aspects of a digital system.
Proven track record of achieving significant results, as demonstrated by first- and/or co-authored publications at leading workshops or conference (e.g., ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, ISSCC, TinyML, IEDM, VLSI Symposium, ASPLOS, JSSC, TCAS), patents, or grants.
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
