The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a strong manager, and creative problem solver that is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. This candidate will be deeply familiar with operations fundamentals, understand how to support a large research team, and be able to use this knowledge to build better processes at scale. This role will manage personnel covering areas ranging from facilities site leadership to technical services. The person will work closely with partner groups such as finance, recruiting and HR. This person will apply their experience in organizational development, and their passion about making sure the right people are in the right roles doing the right work, to: build management structures around the work and not the org chart, diagnose and resolve team health issues, work with other research teams and human resources to align management and performance practices, and will empower a world-class team of research scientists, engineers, designers, and managers to do their best work, together.

Qualifications(岗位要求)

10+ years of experience in people management or people operations in multi-disciplinary organizations with 5+ years of people management experience.

5+ years of experience managing programs in a large company, a tech company, or a research organization.

Experience coordinating complex programs across multiple geographically distributed sites, from inception to completion.

Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and driving initiatives in a cross-functional environment.

Experience leading and influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organization.

Description(岗位职责)

Work with research team leadership and manage a multi-pillar operations team to develop and execute organizational strategy, including: bench planning, business planning, resource allocation, talent development, and alignment across geographically dispersed sites, focusing on improving our research team’s capabilities and structure.

Evaluate current operational workstreams, developing a strategy for each area to grow, scale and improve them. Socialize and present these strategies leading to buy in, and then to successfully implement the approved plans.

Act as the primary escalation point for operational needs from the various research pillars, ensuring that the teams are supported by the central Meta teams with specific solutions tailored to long term research.

Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in annual business planning, headcount management, key organizational metrics, long-term space and lab planning, equipment procurement processes, and other operational projects.

Oversee key hiring efforts, working with hiring managers and recruiting to hire the best people for the right roles, and ensure team hiring and management practices are aligned with company requirements.

Build cross-functional relationships with peer and partner organizations across the Research Lab and Meta organizations, including human resources, legal, finance, and central operations.

Manage a team of individual contributors and managers, working to best organize and drive central operations.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Academic or industry experience in computer science, psychology, human-computer interaction, hardware engineering, business administration, or another field related to AR/VR interaction.

Experience in managing research or early product development programs.

Experience working with or in support of many different business units, especially where revenue is not the primary performance goal.
