The Reality Labs (RL) Sensors Team is developing products that will contribute to the development of augmented and virtual reality. Amongst other focus areas, the group specializes in research and implementation of motion sensors with an eye towards driving the state of the art. We are looking for intern candidates with experience in classical and machine learning algorithm development with time-varying signals to collaborate with our team in pursuit of novel sensing technologies.

Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.


Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Robotics or related fields

Experience with signal processing single and multichannel time series sensor data in Python and/or Matlab

2+ years experience in modern Machine Learning algorithms, specifically Deep Convolutional Networks, Recurrent Neural Networks, Clustering, and Dimensionality Reduction

2+ years experience in building and training machine learning models in Python and/or Matlab as demonstrated in projects or publications

Familiar with deep learning fundamentals and tools like Pytorch, Tensorflow, or Keras

Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration

Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment


Develop novel concepts and algorithms for advanced sensing solutions for AR/VR systems

Work with the team to help define, implement, and validate data collection pipelines, and run practical experiments related to Sensor Systems and Machine Learning Algorithms

Work with researchers to design studies, collect data and find key results

Communicate and present results to a wide range of audiences

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

Hands-on experience working with sensors such as inertial sensors, pressure sensors, magnetometers, ultrasonic transducers, microphones

Experience with sensor fusion, state estimation, 2D/3D object detection, depth estimation, or scene rendering

Experience in software engineering in C/C++
