At Meta Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). We are currently seeking an experienced Characterization Manager (Algorithms and Infra) with a desire for working across the organization to develop technology and solve complex problems. Your job will be to manage a team of engineers who are embedded within the product level research and development team from early conceptualization, development of high-fidelity prototypes, through handoff to our partners in operations as we scale for mass production.

As Manager of the Characterization team, you lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers responsible for the characterization and analysis of our depth sensing algorithms. Your team is responsible for thorough characterization of our novel algorithms – guiding our development with measured evaluations against KPIs and well-defined metrics. 5+ years of technical leadership experience with 3+ years of experience in people management.

MS in EE, CS, or related field.

2+ years experience in developing/evaluating CV/ML algorithms for product deployment.

Familiarity with depth sensing algorithms and industry evaluation methodologies like Middlebury.

Experience in building/scaling processing infrastructure to support large scale data processing and model development life cycle.


Manage a team of individual contributors focusing on algorithm characterization, benchmarking, and evaluation.

Identify key roles required for team success and recruit top engineering talent.

Provide team guidance, regular feedback, education, coaching and mentoring, career development plans, and performance management.

Collaborate across multiple internal teams on definition and execution of development activities.

Develop a positive work environment based on accountability and impact.

Provide technology leadership to evaluate, understand, and implement cutting-edge characterization methods and solutions.

Develop and maintain scalable infrastructure required for processing large scale evaluation datasets.

Hire and manage external contractors and technology partners in the design and maintenance of processing infrastructure.

Additional Requirements(额外要求)

Experience in any depth sensing technologies.

Experience in working at the interface of hardware, software and use case/application development.

Experience in consumer electronics/Autonomous vehicles is preferred.

Experience in KPI development for CV algorithm/system evaluation.
