The Sensors and Systems Research (SSR) group at Meta Reality Labs Research (formerly Facebook Reality Labs Research) is seeking a full time Research Scientist to innovate, build, and demonstrate novel sensing and computing systems. Candidates with a track record of advancing the state-of-the-art in energy-efficient system design, SoC design, smart image sensors and sensor networks for AR/VR, IOT and intelligent applications are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to lead the frontier in AR/VR technology revolution, and to work with a broad range of cross-disciplinary collaborators to build next-generation human oriented compute systems.
PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or equivalent field.
Leadership experience in driving high risk, high reward scientific projects, including setting vision and research directions, strategic planning, and helping solving the most challenging technical issues.
7+ years of research experience at renown universities and research institutes at the interface with leading semiconductor companies and start-ups with the focus on energy efficient sensing and computing systems, ultra-low power ASIC and SOC architectures, software and algorithm architecture and optimization.
Architect and design optimal solutions for end-to-end future VR/AR systems and experiences.
Architect and design of computer vision ASIC and system SOCs, architecture fully integrated smart sensor solutions.
Invent, propose, and experiment on hardware and algorithm co-optimization.
Lead, advise and mentor a diversified team of optical, silicon technology, sensor, system architecture, computer vision and ML domain experts. Engage, collaborate and influence other research pillars and application teams at Reality Labs.
Track record of foundational technological breakthroughs. Track record of innovation, breaking new ground, and introducing step function changes to a particular domain of research.
High index referred publications at peer-reviewed top tier conferences (e.g. ISSCC, IEDM, CICC, HotChips, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICCV, and ACL).
Proven record of complex silicon chip design, tape-out and testing.
Direct system and proven track record in sensing and image signal processing system development, specifically in the areas of machine learning hardware development and Computer Vision.
