The Meta Reality Labs Partnerships team is seeking a talented, highly motivated and experienced individual to help drive new product relationships for an emerging technology and product space in our AR/VR business group. You’ll be at the centre of a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional team pushing on every aspect of bringing new products to market: technology, hardware, software, marketing and brand, GTM, and distribution. The Business Development Manager will be an important piece to maintaining long-standing relationships with some of our top partners. If you possess strong relationship-building skills and enjoy working cross-functionally to bring to life (and launch) our key initiatives and products, this role is worth leaning into.
The Business Development Manager will drive the partnerships from deal close through product launches, managing the relationships, and growing, measuring and optimising partnership success with a specific focus in the Italy region. More importantly, you will identify ways to grow the partnership after the initial deal close, whereby both the partner and the Meta team will benefit and thrive. You will be knowledgeable about new hardware, platforms and content and enjoy working with product teams. You will dive deep to understand product details and work as an extension of the product partnerships teams. Additionally, you will have experience working with multiple partners and be comfortable in a start-up type of environment.
This role will report directly to the Director of AR Device Partnerships. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable in a rapidly changing environment and takes a proactive and strategic approach to partner management. You will have the ability to bridge short term goals with longer term strategy and be able to create and execute a well-ordered framework of action with little to no direction.
8+ years in a partner-facing role in the Internet, consumer electronics, and/or high-tech industries, including 5+ years of business development experience
Fluent in Italian, other languages are desired
Sound business judgment and ability to prioritise and triage partner-related issues, solution-find, and effectively motivate internal and external stakeholders to work towards a common goal
Highly strategic and experienced in leading cross-functional teams to orchestrate, collaborate, and successfully seize opportunities
Comfort with a fast-paced, always-on, start-up environment
Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, highly organised and excellent communication skills
Experience with structuring and negotiating partnership agreements for development, joint development, IP and brand licensing, marketing and distribution, and more
Explore and develop new partnership opportunities in the Italy region for Meta Reality Labs across a variety of products including smart glasses, AR devices, luxury brands, avatars, metaverse, and more. Work closely with the product partnerships team to drive new partnership opportunities to fruition.
Bring partnerships from deal close through product launches
scale, nurture, and optimise partnerships beyond launch, identifying incremental, mutually beneficial opportunities to grow the partnership
Develop strong and deep relationships with our key partner across RL product areas
manage all internal and external executive communication, meetings, and engagements. Manage the proper senior level partner relationships with a focus on continued growth of the partnership, and execution against contractual obligations
Work collaboratively & cross-functionally with business development, marketing, operations, data science, engineering, product management, legal, developer strategy, and comms to execute our obligations as articulated in each partnership
Maintain a cadence of regular syncs with partners to understand their roadmaps and priorities to proactively identify opportunities to grow the partnership beyond any initial deal
Advocate for the partner internally and for the the Meta team’s needs externally with the partner
Analyse key business metrics to impact change for both the partner and internally within FRL
Work closely with the Italian government and policy teams at Meta to drive forward Reality Labs product partnership objectives and programs in conjunction with key Italian partners.
BA/BS Degree, MBA degree desired.
Previous business experience in hardware and devices partnerships, HW/SW partner management
Strong technical competence or tech-curious and motivated to learn
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships, garner respect, and grow influence inside and outside the AR/VR organisation
Skilled at navigating, understanding, and enforcing contracts
